At 16 I co-founded Slanter. Now my school is buying it.

Slanter is an AI-native learning platform for IB schools and students. I lead the business side, and I'm building its library of interactive simulations and study guides.

Slanter

An AI tutor for IB students that guides them to the answer instead of writing it for them.

The problem

Schools don't trust LLMs like ChatGPT or Claude because of academic integrity, so students either use AI secretly or not at all. General chatbots hand over finished answers and don't know the IB syllabus.

What Slanter does

  • A Socratic tutor that asks, hints and explains so the student does the thinking.
  • Answers grounded in IB material through a retrieval system over about 1.4 million records of syllabi, textbooks and past papers.
  • File uploads, quizzes, visualisations, web search and a code sandbox inside the chat.
  • A school dashboard with roles, usage statistics and academic integrity settings, connected to Microsoft Entra ID and Google Classroom.

My part

We are three co-founders. Viktor and Stepan, both future CS majors, wrote most of the code. I work on the business and product side and on the learning content.

  • Managed product, packaging and pricing, as well as costs and scope. Wrote much of the content and came up with features like school institutions, quizzes and academic research.
  • Organised a summer beta with over 100 students from three IB schools, including the group, bug reporting and support.
  • Led the negotiations with my school, MIS, which agreed to buy Slanter for its 150 to 200 students in Grades 11 and 12.
  • Leading our registration as a GmbH with the notary.
  • Designing and coding the Slanter library on my own, including the simulations below.

The Slanter library

Simulations, guides and formula breakdowns for the IB, designed and coded by me.

Most of Slanter is built around asking questions and getting answers, and every answer costs us money. So I designed a library that sits next to the AI. It has interactive simulations that show how variables in science and economics actually relate, guides for Paper 1, 2 and 3 with structure, tips and vocabulary, and interactive formula booklets where you click a formula to zoom in and get a full explanation with examples.

The ideas are mine and I'm coding it alone, so Viktor and Stepan can focus on the AI. I started in September and taught myself TypeScript and the libraries the simulations are built on along the way. Once it is built it costs us almost nothing to run, however many students use it, so we can give students more support without raising our costs or cutting their usage. Every section is drafted, and the simulations below are an early preview of what is coming to Slanter.

Try it yourself

Live simulations, straight from the library.

These are the real simulations, running live and still in development. Click the tour to pause it and look around, or pick a simulation to try it yourself.

How it works

Every simulation runs its model live in the browser and is tagged with the syllabus topics it covers. Where the IB data booklet has a formula, the page shows it with the simulation's live numbers substituted in.

  • 235 simulation and law pages plus 16 economics diagrams, with SL and HL filtering.
  • Automated checks compare each simulation's results with theory or real data.
  • An offline search that understands IB codes like "C.1", formulas like "pV = nRT" and misspellings.
  • Guided "predict, then test" experiments, live charts, CSV export and shareable links.
  • A static site with no server costs. Built with TypeScript, React and three.js.

Before Slanter

What I tried first, and what I took from it.

Age 14

Websites for local businesses

I offered local businesses with outdated or missing websites a new one at a low price, partly for my CV and partly for pocket money. I was too young to register a company, so many German businesses turned me down, and without a real path to growth I stopped. It taught me that a good offer isn't enough if customers can't trust who is selling it.

Age 14

A Roblox tycoon game

At the same time, we started building an interactive tycoon game in a large open world on Roblox. We realised the commitment was too big for us, and my game development skills weren't strong enough yet, so we stopped. It taught me to judge the scope of a project before diving in, which I now do for Slanter.

About me

I like building things that actually help someone.

I grew up in Schwetzingen and moved to Munich when I was about ten, right in the middle of Covid. Starting over in a new city while everything was closed was hard. Today I'm in Grade 12 of the IB at Munich International School, and my Extended Essay looks at how AI is causing unemployment among junior software developers.

For nine years football was a big part of my life, most recently at FC Ismaning. Last year I stopped. A health issue that lasted over six months cut my stamina, and I decided to put my time into school and Slanter instead. It wasn't an easy call, but I didn't stop training. I moved to the gym, and I've gone consistently for about a year now.

I see school as a place to build discipline and knowledge I can use later. But ever since I was young I wanted to do something of my own, not just to earn money but to prove to myself that I'm actually helping someone. I tried a Roblox game, then selling websites, and now Slanter. I'm not drawn to a 9 to 5. I work best with freedom, on my own or in a team, on things I care about.

My rule is simple. Build to help, never build to sell. If something makes a student's life easier, the money follows as a by-product of that value, but it is never the goal.
